Sustainability is a global issue, and we have made it one of our core principles to support sustainable fishing and farming practices. This commitment is reflected in our Approved Supplier Programme, which ensures that all of our suppliers meet stringent ethical and sustainability standards.
From the very beginning, My Food Bag has prioritized sourcing Free Range or Free Farmed meat, a core value we will always stand by.
All of our red meat and poultry are sustainably sourced from New Zealand farms across the North and South Islands. We ensure that our pork is always free farmed, while duck, turkey, and other less common meats are sourced from suppliers who follow ethical farming practices.
In addition to sustainable meat sourcing, our seafood is procured in line with New Zealand’s Quota Management System (QMS) to promote responsible fishing.
Every supplier is thoroughly vetted as part of our comprehensive supplier standards and review process.
Sustainability is a worldwide issue - that's why we felt it was important to implement our Approved Supplier Programme.
Our Approved Supplier Programme ensures that all our suppliers adhere to ethical and sustainability requirements, which include:
- Exclusive use of free range, free farmed, or wild animal products
- Fair worker remuneration and respect for labour rights
- Compliance with an approved Health and Safety policy under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, or subsequent legislation
- Bribery and corruption-free business practices
- Products that are free of harmful preservatives and/or additives
